Wastelands - David Mercado

To best describe what I wanted to go with these pieces I mirrored the idea of a portrait. The pattern I brought was suggested by my sister in law to include Snoopy into one of my projects. But during class I was going through some books of Mexican typography. It reminded me of the ranch where my grandparents live. Ironically my grandma came to visit and brought up the photo she has of my great grandfather. I was mostly around my family at the time, so I got caught up and didn’t really add more to the original concept.

 

 I merely cropped the insides of a photo and included the printed designs I scanned in the middle and cropped my grandfather in the middle. Although now I’m wondering if I went more of the approach of being discounted maybe having a phone screen as the background and the photo frame inside but very faint. Or at least that’s a change I now think I could have made for this project.
